What is Nijut Moina Scheme Assam?
Nijut Moina (meaning 'My Beloved Daughter' in Assamese) is Assam Government's flagship scheme launched by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to prevent girl student dropout and encourage higher education. Under the scheme, girl students receive monthly stipends from Class 11 through postgraduate level: ₹1,000/month for Class 11-12, ₹1,500/month for undergraduate (BA/BSc/BCom), and ₹2,500/month for postgraduate students. The scheme was launched in 2021 and significantly expanded in Phase 2 in August 2025. Over 10 lakh girl students benefit annually. The stipend is transferred directly to girl students' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts to ensure parents allow daughters to continue education instead of early marriage or work.
