What is Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam?
Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (Healthcare at Your Doorstep) is Tamil Nadu's flagship scheme launched by Chief Minister MK Stalin in 2021. Healthcare workers visit every household in TN to screen for 27 diseases and health conditions including diabetes, hypertension, TB, cancer, and mental health. Free medicines are provided on-site. Over 3.5 crore households covered. Weekly visits by teams of ASHA workers and nurses.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive Free doorstep screening for 27 diseases + free medicines + specialist referral — for every household. The scheme was launched in 2021 and is implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
