What is Delhi Free Electricity Scheme?
Delhi government provides 200 units of electricity completely free per month for households consuming up to 200 units. For households consuming 201-400 units, the first 200 units are subsidized at 50% discount. This scheme covers over 47 lakh domestic consumers in Delhi and saves families ₹2,000-4,000 per year. The subsidy is directly applied to the electricity bill.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive 0-200 units: 100% free electricity | 201-400 units: 50% subsidy on first 200 units. The scheme was launched in 2019 and is implemented by the Government of Delhi (NCT).
