What is Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi?
Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme is one of India's oldest and most successful girl child welfare schemes — launched March 2006 by then-CM Dharam Singh's government. Provides a financial assistance bond of ₹19,300 (1st daughter) / ₹18,350 (2nd daughter) at birth from LIC of India, which matures to ₹1,27,000 / ₹1,00,052 respectively when the girl turns 18 (provided she meets all conditions). Plus annual scholarship of ₹300-₹1,000 during school years and free health insurance of ₹25,000. Aim: prevent female foeticide, encourage girls' education, end child marriage. 30+ lakh girls registered.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive ₹1.27 lakh maturity at 18 years (1st daughter) / ₹1 lakh (2nd daughter) + annual scholarship + ₹25,000 health insurance. The scheme was launched in 2006 and is implemented by the Government of Karnataka.

Eligible NFSA ration cardholders (BPL, AAY, PHH) collect the free 10 kg rice per person per month from their designated Fair Price Shop (ration shop). Show your ration card and Aadhaar at the shop.
